A little love I had for you remains. Whatever it meant to be disappeared, should just go away. And now, all I wanted is actually his little attention to me. Just a small little attention will do, show me that i am important to you.

  Staycation Review: Wanderlust Hotel
Located in the middle of Little India and Bugis, Wanderlust is a small boutique hotel that is hidden away and definitely one that I have always wanted to try for a short getaway!

boyfriend wanted to celebrate my twenty-first by arranging a short staycation for us during the weekends. However, as a Singaporean guy- he was called back for reservice during my birthday month and thus we had to push it back all the way till April (one month late, but better than never). So, here it is!

I have been looking forward to a staycation trip and I am really very excited to try out Wanderlust since it is an award-winning Boutique Hotel and I was utterly captivated by one of their theme room, Red Space. It is described on many reviews that it was fun loving experience gazing at the star-like wallpaper together with the space theme decorations - simply the reason why you should choose this room (at least for me).

Unfortunately, we were late for the check-in timing at 3pm due to late lunch. By the time we arrived at Wanderlust, it was 3.15pm! Opportunity cost lost (15minutes) as a result - sad. Immediately, we realised that there were three couples awaiting for check-in at the lobby. Since we expected that there would be delay, we settled down at the lobby and started a little cam-whoring session ourselves.

After that, the receptionist came over to us and explained the details of our booking. Due to overwhelming response, the Red Space Theme room that we wanted was fully booked and the only room left was the ASCII room (something like computer keys theme). We were dumb-folded by the news which left us really in deep shock as boyfriend specifically indicated "Red Space Theme Whimsical Room" under remarks when he booked through Booking.com. The hotel or even the third party booking site (Booking.com) should have made it clear that it is on first come first serve basis. Apparently, during the booking, there was no option to select the theme for our Whimsical room and thus boyfriend had to made that comment under the remarks. Nonetheless, the booking was made 3 weeks ago and they should have sufficient time to realise that the Red Space theme Whimical room is no longer available.

The receptionist serving us is most likely a new hire or an intern with that "newcomer" badge pinned on her blouse. She was totally apologetic over the incident and guilt was written all over her face. We did not know how to react since we were carrying all the heavy baggage with us and postponing the staycation is definitely out of the question. It left us no choice but to accept the ASCII room since all the other Whimsical rooms were taken up - we just had to face the harsh reality. Disappointed with the service, I was really dejected since it was just the beginning of my short getaway cum late celebration for my twenty-first and i could not even get the room I wanted.

boyfriend went ahead to ask for the latest timing to check-out (since we did not get the room we wanted) and got ourselves an addition hour extended on the usual check-out timing - at least we were compensated in a way. After settling some paperwork, the receptionist led us up to our room and guided us to some of the amenities available like the Jacuzzi and even the dinning hall (for our breakfast). Upon seeing our room, I started to feel that the ASCII room is not that bad after all.

Surprisingly, the toiletries they provided in the room were from Shanghai Tang (www.shanghaitang.com). Isn't Shanghai Tang supposed to be selling clothes? Anyway, the beverages were all complimentary in the fridge. The only thing i was so fascinated about, was the Nespresso Machine with the complimentary coffee capsules and it was totally FOC! Singaporeans simply LOVE FOC! /screams/

MOST IMPORTANTLY! The stairs are pretty steep. Climbing up the stairs could be effortless but the challenge is when you need to climb down the stairs. You have to resort walking sideways or backward as there is limited space on the steps (no room for your feet). What's more, you simply just couldn't avoid the stairs as the bed is located upstairs. I almost fell down a couple of times and that's when the railings really come into handy for such scenarios. I was even telling boyfriend that - these steps are designed in such a way that we have to climb the stairs the same way as we do for ladder; climbing vertically up using the usual walking up motion but reverse backward motion to climb down. He literally laughed out loud.

I went ahead to satisfy my desire to try out the Nespresso Machine in the room but I was no better than a 3 year old kid whom can't figure out how to use the machine (I tried once in my company's pantry though). I managed to brew the coffee with some guidance from boyfriend.

I cam-whore abit in the room. boyfriend and I literally slacked inside the room the whole day. We even booked LKY musical to watch- for my motive, definitely because of Sharon Au playing in the musical and for boyfriend... I don't even want to mention /haha/

We went down to Bugis for our dinner in the evening and it was just a 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Honestly speaking, it was really convenient. Imagine yourself, just bringing your wallet and hand-phone out for dinner near central town area - that is simply awesome. Dinner was at Bangkok Jam and both of us ordered Seafood Pad Thai- I couldn't finish mine and so I chucked 1/4 of my Pad Thai to him with no sign of guilt. /haha/

We went back to the hotel after dinner and stopped by the Jacuzzi to have a look. It was really a small area and I doubt anybody would go down there since it was really a small one.

decided to have a bath soak in my own room instead (that was the purpose for having this because of the bathtub!). bought some bath bomb from carousell to try out and it was helpful! i didn't feel dry my entire skin and i don't know if it really helps. we max out the max to 19 degree celsius and i came out of the bath tub shivering. ran to the rain shower toilet while shivering.

breakfast buffet the next morning! i was pretty satisfied with their breakfast as like i always said- i am very picky when it comes to food. bread/crossaint was available. toaster was provided and there are cereals as well. milk/water/coffee/tea are all available at a semi-buffet table. there are also two types of main breakfast to chose- american breakfast and pancakes.

boyfriend chose pancakes- blueberry with cream while i took american breakfast soft boiled eggs. the soft boiled eggs isn't soft boiled. it's more of 'hard boil feeling with a little of soft boil' it neither hard boil nor soft boil, it's somewhere in the middle of the two. they didn't have dark soya sauce either, so i ate plain- yes plain. the not so asia style and plus the fact the theme of their breakfast was 'american breakfast' so i couldn't blame them.

after breakfast, boyfriend and i went back to the room and took a short nap before we packed and conclude our staycation. we took last few photos before we left! (better to have more photos than less was what we concluded). the background was pretty nice as well- considering that we didn't get the theme we wanted though.

In conclusion, i would say that the service provided was 7/10. Reason was we wasn't informed that the aerospace room wasn't available and that they did not provide the choice of other option for us even after seeing our booking. website did not mention that room theme are given based on what is available.

Location was 9.5/10. Place was pretty convenient, but for first-timers you will be pretty unsure as considering the hotel was located in a little corner of the street and you would not be sure if you are walking to the correct place.
